Welcome to Carregfelen

Carregfelen is nestled in the heart of the Wern Estate, accessed via a private, gated drive. You're welcome to explore the woodlands and lanes, but please be mindful of the livestock and ensure all gates are securely closed behind you. The house itself is both comfortable and delightfully quirky, combining antique furniture and family memorabilia with 21st-century fittings and fixtures, all within its thick stone walls.

The kitchen is well-equipped with two electric ovens, a gas hob, a dishwasher, and a toaster. The upstairs utility room features a microwave, kettle, toaster, ice machine, Magimix, and a Kenwood mixer, while the traditional pantry houses a freestanding fridge and freezer. The upstairs sitting room includes a smart TV for your entertainment.

We provide a very large basket of our own logs for the open fires and a bag of charcoal for summer BBQs. Please note that while the thermostat is located in the hall, if you would like to adjust it, we kindly ask that you speak to Kerrie rather than making adjustments yourself.

As Sat Nav can be unreliable in this area, please follow our directions for the last few miles to avoid ending up in one of Mr. Jones' fields.

An overview

Kerrie will contact you a few days before your arrival to meet you at Carregfelen – or, if you are going  to be very late, will leave the keys in an easy to find place. Do try to arrive before 7pm so that she can  show you how the house works. She will give you a key fob for the alarm system and we ask that you  alarm the house if you are going to be out all day. If you are going to be arriving late, please let her  know so that she can leave the key in an easy to find place.

Check-in (from 4pm)

Check-out (before 10am)

Please remember to leave the house clean and tidy, take out bins to the end of the drive and leave the keys in the key safe before you leave. Please report all breakages to Kerrie or wern@dwe.com.

  • Yes, we have super fibre optic broadband.

  • We are pleased to advise that we have an EV charging  station on the Wern Estate. If you are coming with an electric car then please let Kerrie know so that  she can show you where the station is. Our app will record when and how much electricity you have  used and so you will be able to either pay by cash before departure (probably easiest) or we can  charge against your card. We are not looking to make money on this, it is a service that we are  offering guests and solely want to cover costs.

  • We provide a small welcome pack of local produce and there is always tea, coffee, milk, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper.

  • The house is of course fully centrally heated and also has open fires for chilly nights in the Spring and  Autumn. You can alter the time clock which is in the hall. Kerrie will have a fire laid for you.

  •  If you do  need to use the landline then please note that calls are free of charge after 6pm and over the weekend.

  • There are deckchairs in the hall.

Eating outside on the patio is a treat during spring and summer. Of course, we are happy for you to use the BBQ, but please ensure that the BBQ is cleaned ready for the next guests before you leave.

  • Whilst Carregelen is very child friendly, we do ask that guests ensure that children do not play with  the antiques around the house.

We are happy to provide a travel cot – although we ask guests to bring their own bedding. There is a high chair in the dining room.

Please ask in advance if you need either of the above.
